Your State of Internal Affairs

by Annette Bergstein, CHt

Is there something that you want to do or accomplish but think of every reason not to get started? You know you have the skill, ability and desire but something stops you from moving forward. A little voice in your head says "I can't do that!", "I'm not good enough!" or "I could fail and make a fool of myself!" Yes – it's self-sabotage at work; sub-conscious self-destruction. Your state of internal affairs!

Negative self-talk is usually conditioning formed during childhood and follows you throughout your life. You usually don't recognize it which allows the negativity to strengthen. It causes illogical and irrational behavior and destroys your self-esteem and self-confidence. It prevents you from being successful, which, in turn, prevents you from happiness and fulfilling relationships.

Surprisingly, positive self-talk can be just as powerful. If you say "I can do this", you are far more likely to be successful. Listen to your thoughts and decide whether these thoughts will help or hurt you; then immediately STOP your negative thoughts. Rethink your thoughts into positive ones and imagine the results with success.

If you have a specific goal, write it down with the positive outcome. Put it on your computer screen saver, post it on your bathroom mirror, your refrigerator, your car, your boat or any place that you see frequently.

Hypnosis can be a very successful tool to help eliminate self-sabotage. Since self-sabotage is conceived in your subconscious mind, reprogramming your subconscious allows you to break free from negative thoughts and install creative suggestions for new and healthy behaviors.

Don't be your own worst enemy, be your own best friend! When negative self-talk rears its ugly head, put a STOP to it immediately. Don't let it prevent you from moving forward and achieving your goals.

Hypnosis is an affordable, natural and effective solution for the treatment self-sabotage. Stop getting in your own way and you will be amazed how quickly your life can change.

Lose weight today

A primary challenge with helping someone lose weight through hypnosis is the fact that eating is required for survival. Also, once a certain body image is established, this becomes a pattern that is very hard to contradict. So unlike something like smoking cessation where the use of tobacco products, which are basically poisonous to human, when working with the typical weight-loss client the goal is not cessation of regulation. Any hypnosis session for weight-loss client therefore should focus both on increasing perceptions of safety as well as establishing a new body image. Like with just...

Improving your performance

Improving the performance in any given area most likely requires that you stop bad habits and strengthen the necessary parts of your brain and body. When someone is performing poorly they should realize that actually what they're doing is doing their poor performance at an expert level. This proves that they have the ability to achieve mastery. However, they are merely doing it in the wrong way. Getting rid of an expertly performed bad habit is not easy. In fact the brain and body will resist any efforts to change. Additionally, such efforts will most certainly strengthen the hold that...

Irritable Bowel Syndrome and mental health

One common problem that I find in Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) patients is that something major has happened in their lives that have been rather unbalancing. For instance, the adult daughter of a 73 year old retired female civil servant suddenly becomes bipolar and needs substantial care even to the point of wearing diapers. Shortly thereafter the mother, who becomes her primary caregiver develops IBS. Note that these destabilizing events are also present in the case histories for fibro sufferers. So, it is no surprise that many patients are diagnosed both with fibro and IBS. There is...
